A touring truck dubbed ‘Desert Rose’ will visit towns in the Sunshine Coast, to provide locals with convenient access to federal government services.
Services Australia’s Mobile Service Centre will offer the community easy access to Medicare and Centrelink services, and can provide information about the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Department of Veterans’ Affairs services.
Desert Rose will visit: Kin Kin, opposite the Country Life Hotel on Main Street, on Wednesday, March 11, from 9.30am to 4pm; Cooran, in the Cooran Rugby League grounds car park on Railway Road, on Thursday March 12Â from 9am to 4pm; Cooroy, opposite the service station on Opal Street, on Friday March 13, from 9am to 4pm; and Imbil, near the RSL building on Yabba Creek Road, on Monday March 16, from 9.30am to 4pm.
It will also visit Eumundi, opposite the Imperial Hotel on Memorial Drive, on Tuesday March 17 from 9am to 4pm; Maleny, in the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre car park on Bicentenary Lane, on Wednesday March 18, from 9am to 4pm; and Kenilworth, near Peter Dobson Park on Maleny-Kenilworth Road on Thursday March 19, from 9.30am to 3pm.

A Services Australia media release provided more details.
“Mobile service centres are 20-tonne trucks operated by staff from Services Australia, providing regional and rural Australians with friendly face-to-face services and tailored support,” it read.
“Staff on board this trip can help with Centrelink claims payment and services information, updating information, confirming documents and supporting information, myGov services, social work support and referrals, Medicare registrations, and accessing online services through a self-service terminal.”
