Emergency services attended the scene of a two-vehicle traffic incident this morning that blocked a major local road and left hundreds of properties without power.

Queensland Police were called to the incident about 8.50am following reports of a crash on Fishermans Road, Maroochydore.

A QPS spokesperson told SCN a single vehicle initially collided with a power pole, with a second vehicle then involved in the collision.

Queensland Fire Department crews were also dispatched, and left the scene around 9.30am after making the area safe.

Energex confirmed the crash caused significant damage to a pole and overhead lines that feed separate parts of the electricity network.

At the height of the outage, about 2731 customers were affected, and power was restored to almost all of them by 12.30pm. Crews remained on site for several hours fixing the pole and overhead lines, and roads were reopened by mid afternoon.

Queensland Ambulance Service assessed two patients at the scene. Both were stable and declined transport to hospital.
