A Glass House Mountains man has allegedly been caught driving with a blood alcohol level more than six times the legal limit at Elimbah.
Queensland Police said officers from Moreton North Highway Patrol were patrolling Beerburrum Road about 7.15am on November 2 when they saw a Mazda 6 allegedly swerving across the shoulder and centre lines.
The car was intercepted on Twin View Road, and the 41-year-old driver allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.326 per cent at Caboolture Police Station.
He was immediately suspended from driving and charged with driving under the influence of liquor. The man is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on November 17.
Moreton North Highway Patrol Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Mal Lilley said it was a serious alleged offence.
“As one of the Fatal Five, drink and drug driving is a proven contributor to serious and fatal traffic crashes,” he said.
“It is extremely dangerous to get behind the wheel while you’re impaired by an intoxicating substance which impacts your ability to judge distance and speed, reduces your co-ordination and concentration, and distorts your perception of time, place and space.
“Never drive a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol for the sake of your life, and those around you.”
