A five-star hinterland guesthouse is being showcased on a top-rated US daytime game show.

The Country House at Hunchy is being featured as a holiday prize on US television game show The Price is Right.

It’s the number one-rated daytime series on US network television and the longest-running game show in television history. More than 10,000 episodes have aired since it premiered on CBS in 1972.

Following the success of its 2024 debut on the show, the luxury hinterland property has been invited back for a second year running in 2025, making it one of the only regional Australian accommodations to be showcased twice on the program.

The 2024 segment led to a 10 per cent increase in US-based website traffic for the property, a surge in social media engagement and a boost in direct travel inquiries from American guests.

The 2024 prize-winner Rita Moon and her husband Ron, from southern California, spent six nights at The Country House in October exploring the scenic Blackall Range, sampling gourmet local produce and relaxing in the guesthouse’s signature Rainforest Retreat suite.

“It’s more than a vacation, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Mrs Moon said in a recent interview.

“We’re so excited to stay somewhere so peaceful, luxurious and authentically Australian.”

The promotion not only raised the property’s profile globally but also aligns with Tourism and Events Queensland and Visit Sunshine Coast’s goals of attracting high-yield, long-stay international travellers to the region.

“We are incredibly proud to represent the Sunshine Coast on the world stage,” The Country House co-owner Terri Wirth Koepenick said.

“This kind of international exposure supports our business and delivers visibility for the entire hinterland region.

“We’re passionate about sharing our slice of paradise with the world.”
