The owner of a Sunshine Coast antique store has been left reeling after an estimated $50,000 of goods was stolen, prompting a police investigation and a plea for help to track down the culprits.
John Kendall, who runs Maleny Country Antiques and Collectables, informed locals of the incident via social media on Thursday.
“I had a break-in at my shop,” he said.
“Bastards targeted it fairly well and helped themselves to around $50K in jewellery, coins, gold etc.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious last night let myself or the police know.
“They broke in the door, Maleny Realty side, probably parked down near Willow Lane.”
He also posted photos of items that were stolen.
“Most of this was stolen. In the unlikely event any of these pieces pop onto the market, please let me know,” he said.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said officers were investigating.
“Police are investigating after a business was broken into at Maleny this week,” they said.
“Initial reports indicate that unknown offenders gained access to the Maple Street business between 4pm on Wednesday, July 10, and 7am on Thursday, July 11.
“The offenders then proceeded to steal several items from the store before fleeing.
“No one was injured in the incident.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation is asked to come forward.”
Sunshine Coast News has contacted Mr Kendall for further comments.
