The LNP has committed to a $1 million upgrade of an education and recreation facility on the Sunshine Coast, should they be elected.

Member for Fairfax Ted O’Brien announced the money would go towards a redevelopment of the Apex Camps venue at Twin Waters.

It would deliver a new bathroom block and improved accommodation to better support larger and more diverse groups.

“For more than four decades, Apex Camps has helped shape the lives of young Australians teaching life skills, fostering friendships and building community spirit,” he said.

“But ageing infrastructure and limited facilities have created barriers, especially for teachers and people living with disability.

“This investment will ensure the camp remains a safe, accessible and welcoming place for all.

Apex Camps CEO Keith Fullerton welcomed the announcement.

“We can now look ahead to the next 40 years of inspiring and empowering young Australians,” he said.

“The new bathroom and accommodation facilities will significantly improve our ability to serve the needs of today’s youth”.

Apex Camps also has a camp at Magnetic Island.
