A prominent Sunshine Coast consulting agency has been acquired by a Sydney-based labour hiring company.

Minyama-based EastCoast Human Resource Group has been absorbed by People Plus.

Started in 1986, EastCoast HR is the region’s oldest recruitment agency.

Its acquisition is being regarded as a key milestone in People Plus’s nationwide growth strategy as it expands its portfolio of complementary businesses, including training organisations and waste management companies.

Outgoing director Michalle Faulkner said the sale was a celebration of EastCoast HR’s success and a step forward for both parties.

With more than 20 years’ experience in human resource management, Ms Faulkner has guided the business through the global financial crisis, pandemic and ongoing economic shifts.

While stepping away from ownership, she will continue to support the company in a consultancy capacity.

“It has been an unbelievable journey with EastCoast HR, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved,” she said.

“It’s very rewarding to see the business evolve and expand nationally with People Plus at the helm. I welcome the new owners and look forward to collaborating with them as they take EastCoast HR into its next exciting chapter.”

Ms Faulkner’s next venture includes the release of her second book, Modern People Matters, alongside expanding her role in the public speaking arena to help HR professionals navigate the modern workplace.

LINK Business Brokers sales agent Matteo Melis emphasised the significance of the sale, marking it as one of historical value for the region.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to represent Michalle and EastCoast HR in this transaction,” he said.

“I truly appreciate the professionalism from both sides in what has been one of the largest recruitment industry deals in the region, if not Australia-wide, within our network.

“As the oldest and first established recruitment agency on the Sunshine Coast, this sale marks a significant milestone with historical value for the area.”
