Sunshine Coast mayor Rosanna Natoli and her husband, Councillor Joe Natoli, have announced that they are separating.

A statement issued from the mayor’s office on behalf of both of them just after close of business on Monday afternoon said: “I share with sadness that Cr Joe Natoli and I are separating, after 35 years of marriage.

“We ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy – and especially that of our children – during this time.

“Both Joe and I would like to reassure the community that we remain steadfast in our dedication to fulfilling the commitments we have made to the people of the Sunshine Coast, through our respective roles on council.

“Personally, I remain laser-focused on my goal of being the best mayor for the future of this region, leading with vision and resilience, and leaving a legacy of a thriving, vibrant community.

“Being entrusted with the role of mayor of the Sunshine Coast is a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously, and I am dedicated to fulfilling it with passion.
