An old home dubbed the ‘last original Mooloolaba beach shack’ is poised to go under the hammer.
No.35 Smith Street is set to change hands after being in the Webb family for more than 60 years.
Ray White Mooloolaba principal Brent Higgins said the property, which has zoning for a high rise, was a rarity.
“It’s a very special site, being offered for sale for the first time and we’ll take it to auction on December 7,” he said.
“Smith Street is regarded as Mooloolaba’s most progressive address for future high rise development and I am expecting a lot of interest.”
Seller Jon Webb, of Shelly Beach, said his grandmother originally owned the site 60 years ago and raised her six kids there.
His dad Trevor Webb was a life member of the Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club and when he passed away five years ago the club approached him to rent the house.
The Webb family also has a long relationship with the club, which leases it for staff accommodation and storage of surf boats and skis.
“Dad loved the club, so he would be happy they have had good use out the house, I reckon. He was a larrikin, he just loved the beach and having a punt.” he said.
The 728sqm site is zoned District Centre Zone, offering a wide range of commercial and residential development options with 18m height zoning.
This old fibro shack currently has an annual income of $22,872 in the interim while development applications and plans are worked through.
It’s just 500m to the Mooloolaba Esplanade and 450m to the Mooloolaba marina and wharf precinct.
