Multiple organisations within Glass House are set to be bolstered from more than $215,000 in grants.

Member for the state electorate Andrew Powell was delighted to announce a significant lift from the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

“Glass House is on the up and up,” he said.

Round 104 saw us win $193,953 and I was stoked with that, so it’s a real treat to see our local community groups share funding in excess of $200,000.

The GCBF provides grants to Queensland not-for-profit community organisations with revenue sourced from gaming taxes, distributing about $53 million per year to Queensland communities.

Suncoast Hinterland BMX Club received funding to construct a shade structure.

“I always try to encourage as many community groups as possible to apply for these grants.” Mr Powell said.

“Applications from the Glass House electorate are usually treated very well due to our abundance of small, volunteer-run organisations.”

“And if you’ve already received a grant previously, just apply again. Plenty of groups have been able to receive two or three grants.”

Conondale Sport and Rec Club can upgrade their facility.

The grants recipients from Glass House in Round 106 are:

  • Conondale Sport and Rec Club – $29,316.00 to upgrade their facility
  • Eudlo Public Hall and Recreation Grounds – $34,997.65 to purchase equipment and upgrade their facility
  • Eudlo State School P&C – $32,956.00 to upgrade the school’s playground
  • Glasshouse Districts Branch Little Athletics Centre – $25,500.00 to purchase a tractor
  • Maleny Community Centre – $8,690.00 to install air conditioning
  • Maleny Cultural and Historical Society – $34,194.55 to upgrade Priscilla Cottage and purchase new equipment
  • Suncoast Hinterland BMX Club – $35,000.00 to construct a shade structure
  • C&K Woodford Community Kindergarten – $14,134.00 to install a swing and softfall
C&K Woodford Community Kindergarten can install a swing and softfall.

“If your community group is considering applying for the next round, now is clearly the time.”

“There is money in the bank waiting to go to a group just like yours. You’ve got to be in it to win it.” Mr Powell concluded.

Information on how to apply for a GCBF grant is available at www.justice.qld.gov.au/grants or by phoning 1800 633 619 during business hours.

Applications for Round 107 and 108 have already closed, and applications for Round 109 will open mid-March and close midnight 30 April 2021.
