A Sunshine Coast beach has been named the state’s best beach in the 2026 Queensland Day All the Best awards.

Despite ongoing foreshore construction, Mooloolaba Beach topped the category after almost 75,000 votes were cast across 15 awards recognising food, hospitality, and tourism businesses statewide.

Construction of a key stretch of seawall in front of the Mooloolaba Surf Club reached ‘finished level’ recently, giving beachgoers a glimpse of what it will look like.

The state government said the 2026 Queensland Day celebrations would include a “Mega Round” of sport featuring two NRL matches, an AFL Q-Clash, a Super Netball derby and the QLD Day Stakes at Oaks Day.

Queenslanders are also being encouraged to celebrate locally, with IGA stores supporting community events and pubs across the state going maroon.

Premier David Crisafulli said the awards reflected strong community support for local businesses.

“Congratulations to every winner and to the thousands of Queenslanders who got behind them to take the crown in their category,” he said.

Winners included The Baker’s Duck in Toowoomba (best bakery), Banh Mi Factory in Zillmere (best banh mi), Super Rooster in Toowoomba (best burger joint), Rode Meats in Stafford Heights (best butcher), and Farmhouse in Kedron (best cafe).
