A Sunshine Coast-based mobile laundry service is wringing the most out of 2023, with yet another honour.

The Laundry Lady founder and CEO Susan Toft flew to Sydney late last month for the Australian Financial Review’s Top 100 Fast Starters for 2023.

The growing national business, offering washing and ironing pick-up and delivery with easy online bookings for commercial and residential customers, came in at No.44 on the list.

The Laundry Lady is poised for global expansion after scoring a $1 million investment and the top offer in the history of the reality TV show Shark Tank Australia on Network 10.

It was dubbed ‘the Uber of laundry’ when it was featured in the recent season of the popular show, where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their original ideas to a panel of investors, known as ‘Sharks’.

The Laundry Lady appeared to be an overnight success after quickly skyrocketing from eight contractors to 200-plus in just a few short years, with annual revenue doubling year on year.

The Laundry Lady’s Susan Toft and Canadian businessman Robert Herjavec.

It was this growth and the future plans for international expansion that saw Canadian investor and ‘Shark’ Robert Herjavec sit up and take notice.

Ms Toft’s pitch and current goal is to expand The Laundry Lady into multiple countries while also improving the systems and processes to ensure a streamlined experience for customers, contractors and the management team.

“While I can’t share too much yet about the future plans we’re working on, what I can say is definitely watch this space as you’ll be seeing us pop up in many more countries,” she said.

The Laundry Lady was a Queensland finalist in 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards, 2022 winner at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards (Trades and Services, large business category), and a finalist in the 2023 Sunshine Coast Business Awards (Trades and Services). Ms Toft was the 2022 Sunshine Coast Corporate Business Woman of the Year.
