The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle vehicle rollover at Cooloola Recreation Reserve this morning.

Initial investigations indicate a Toyota Prado was travelling on Teewah Beach when it rolled several times about 11.50am.

The driver, an international tourist in his 20s, died at the scene.

The four passengers, three men and one woman, also in their 20s, were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene of the crash on Teewah Beach.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew airlifted two of the patients: one of the men, with suspected spinal injuries and a possible head injury, and the woman, who had cuts and abrasions.

The pilot landed the aircraft near the scene on the beach, where the aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the patients.

It’s believed the four-wheel-drive had been driving along the beach when it swerved to avoid an unknown object, causing it to roll several times.

Investigations are ongoing.
