Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson is set to showcase the region at an international summit and forum involving delegates from cities around Asia and the Pacific.

Cr Jamieson will join more than 1000 representatives from 140 cities at the Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Brisbane from October 11 to 13.

The meeting will provide a chance to present regions to the world and enable partnerships and knowledge sharing between cities and businesses.

Mr Jamieson said he was looking forward to showcasing the Sunshine Coast.

He encouraged local businesses and leaders to register and get involved, and said it was a rare opportunity to grow knowledge, learn the latest trends, share ideas and network across a broad scale.

“The Sunshine Coast has so much to offer and this is a chance to promote the region far and wide,” he said.

“The summit is a unique business networking opportunity, drawing together people from key markets across Australia, as well as regions across the globe.

“Those who attend could walk away with new business leads and strategic connections that could help their businesses expand and discover new horizons.’’

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said it was an exciting time for South-East Queensland mayors to come together to unlock new opportunities and connections for their region.

I encourage business leaders to join their mayors and register to take part, so they can be part of this unsurpassed global opportunity,” he said.

“The last APCS attracted over 1400 delegates, including 83 mayors and deputy mayors, representing a global community of more than 98 million people. This year’s event is expected to build on this success, so it’s an opportunity not to be missed.”

The summit will offer a diverse range of speakers from across Asia and the Pacific, with case studies from a range of sectors, fresh insights and world-changing ideas under the theme ‘Shaping Cities for our Future’.

Keynote speakers will include award-winning author of Happy City and urbanist Charles Montgomery, along with Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games president Andrew Liveris and Korean-Australian two-time world champion debater Bo Seo.
