The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a woman to safety after she fell down a beachfront cliff in the Noosa region.
The tourist, aged in her 30s, slipped five metres down a rock face as she was hiking near some caves along the shoreline.
She landed heavily on rocks below.
A friend of the woman who was with her at the time initially raised the alarm about 9.30 this morning and stayed with her until emergency services arrived.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics drove onto the closest accessible beach, before hiking to the incident location.
They climbed down to the injured woman as the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter approached.
The pilot carefully maneuvered the aircraft, so the QAS Flight Paramedic could be lowered to a narrow strip of rock, close to the caves.
The rescue chopper crew was able to successfully winch the woman, along with the Flight Paramedic, in a careful hoisting operation from the slippery rocks.
The patient was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, suffering facial and other injuries.
