A new expressions-of-interest campaign has begun for one of the Sunshine Coast’s most desirable hinterland retreats.

Set in a pristine rainforest overlooking a magnificent waterway, Secrets on the Lake luxury treehouse resort near Montville is one of a kind.

Marketing agent Nathan Beasley, from RE/MAX Property Sales, said the property presented an unparalleled opportunity.

“Here we see approximately 15 hectares of lakefront land, breathtaking views, an established, award-winning business with huge growth potential and with approvals to further develop the site,” he said.

“There is clearly $20 million-plus of existing infrastructure, which includes 10 hand-carved treehouse cabins, an owner’s villa, an award-winning 100-seat restaurant, a wedding chapel, a reception lounge and an old, recycled railway station.”

Mr Beasley has a long-time personal connection with owners George and Aldy Johnston, who have spent three decades creating Secrets on the Lake as an internationally recognised destination. As a former retail store owner, he helped the Johnstons with the resort fitout 13 years ago.

“What they have created is amazing and most people will have seen nothing like it in terms of natural beauty and incredible workmanship,” said Mr Beasley, who celebrated his wedding at Secrets on the Lake.

The award-winning restaurant and functions area at Secrets on the Lake.

“It is an intensely beautiful place and I admit that it’s difficult to put a price on, but the replacement value would certainly be more than $20 million.”

The Johnstons opened Secrets up to visitors in 1997. After bringing their dream to reality and sharing it with thousands of guests, they are now planning retirement.

Many a couple have shared their special day with guests at Secrets on the Lake.

“I call it a reluctant retirement because it is hard for them to leave,” Mr Beasley said.

“However, they have decided to move on and let new owners put their stamp on the property.”

The resort first went on the market late last year.

Mr Beasley is offering the property in conjunction with John Petralia, from Ray White Commercial Noosa and Sunshine Coast.

The agents are fielding interest from as far afield as the US, France and Asia, as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and locally.

“It is more than a heavenly place to live, it could also be an excellent investment with its huge growth potential and development approval for more accommodation,” Mr Beasley said.

“It is absolutely magnificent and potential buyers say it is hard to think of anything that would compare with it.”
