A respected business leader is moving on to a new role, having made a significant impact to the region during some very challenging times.

After close to five years as Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast CEO, Paul Fisher has resigned.

Mr Fisher said he was proud of his achievements during his time at RDASC.

“During my five-year tenure at RDASC I have been privileged to work with all three levels of government, regional and local industry associations, chambers and councils, and many of the incredible businesses that make up the fabric of the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

“The innovative, entrepreneurial ecosystem that exists here is just exceptional. I wish to thank the RDA chair and the board for their support, and all the countless individuals I have engaged with over the years.

“I will be staying locally in one of those innovative, entrepreneurial businesses I referred to earlier, and continuing to contribute to the growth of this vibrant region.”

RDASC chair Carol Cashman paid tribute to the work of Mr Fisher.

“Paul has been instrumental in growing the profile of RDASC, ensuring our business community has been kept engaged and informed of the work we do,” she said.

“The board would like to acknowledge Paul’s efforts, especially during the pandemic, where he was instrumental in leading the team to effectively communicate with government, stakeholders and the broader business community during this challenging period, where decisions and changes to rules, impacting business, needed to be communicated quickly and efficiently.

“Paul has been an outstanding CEO who has worked hard to enhance the reputation of the RDASC and worked well with our board and our region’s leaders to grow our local economy.

“RDASC plays an integral role in working with the business community and all levels of government to help ensure we get the balance right in terms of what areas we invest in, and we will continue to have a voice on matters that impact what is one of the country’s fastest-growing regions.”
