Former Bachelor star Sam Wood will make another bid to be granted bail after spending weeks behind bars.
The reality TV star turned fitness entrepreneur is accused of pushing and strangling his wife, Snezana Wood, at a holiday unit in Noosa.
The Melbourne man, 46, has been in custody since his arrest on the Sunshine Coast on October 3, having been denied bail by a magistrate.
Wood has filed a bail application with the Queensland Supreme Court, court officials confirmed on Thursday.
It will be heard on November 4.
Wood has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting.
He met his wife on the third season of The Bachelor in 2015, and the couple both enjoy a large following on Instagram.
His legal team have also filed a non-publication order application, which is due to be heard by the Supreme Court on Friday.
When Wood first applied for bail on October 8, the court was told he allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat with one hand and threw her against a wall.
He allegedly held her throat tightly and restricted her breathing while she was on the ground.
Wood’s stepdaughter Eve Markoski-Wood, 21, called police on October 4 reporting he had harmed her mother, Ms Wood, at a unit on Noosa’s Hastings Street tourist precinct, a magistrate heard.
In opposing bail, police prosecutor Jeanette Grigoris submitted photos of injuries Ms Wood allegedly sustained, telling the court “she thought she was going to die”.
The alleged victim had given strong evidence of claims she was choked to “cessation of breath” before her head was banged on the floor, Sgt Grigoris said.
Sgt Grigoris said Wood was a risk of not appearing in court if he was released and had the means to flee the jurisdiction.
Wood had no criminal record and his version of events indicated he might be entitled to a self-defence argument, his solicitor Mathew Cuskelly said.
“There were hostilities,” Mr Cuskelly told the court.
“The complainant has moved towards him and continued to yell at him.
“He pushed her away. There is denial of any strangulation.”
Mr Cuskelly said the attending paramedic’s statement about minimal injuries seemed unusual, given the nature of and gravity of the alleged assault.
Wood earned a national profile as a star of The Bachelor, launching a successful home fitness business 28 By Sam Wood.
He reportedly sold it in 2022 for more than $70 million but remained the face of the online platform.
The wellness businesses behind the platform have since cut ties with Wood after placing him on indefinite leave.
