A fresh round of community events is being rolled out at a park that has faced concerns over its condition and safety.
Free activities, including skate lessons, yoga and family play sessions are being held at Nambour’s Quota Memorial Park, amid efforts to encourage locals back into the space.
They follow a recent clean-up, maintenance, graffiti removal and signage works, and after police and government representatives highlighted the steps they’re taking to improve confidence in the park.
Sunshine Coast Council is partnering with the Nambour Community Centre and Trinity Youth & Community Services to deliver the events.
Councillor David Law said they would help community members reconnect with the space.
“Quota Park has always been an important community space, so it’s wonderful to see council, along with Queensland Police Service, IFYS and local community organisations making this a key focus area and all playing a role in helping this park shine,” he said.
“Quota Park is a great local asset with a fenced playground and climbing play area for older kids, picnic area and barbecues, skate park, dog park and plenty of open space for recreation.
“I encourage locals to come along to an event and be part of the park’s next chapter as a valuable community hub.”
A skate competition was held during the weekend, while other events include The Great Quota Park Playdate on September 5, regular playdates from September 17, and free yoga classes on Tuesday mornings.

From the bridge pathway, visitors can also view the new Petrie Creek fishway, which helps fish move past long-standing barriers and reconnects them with critical breeding and feeding habitat upstream.
Cleaners visit daily to maintain the barbecues, shelters and amenities, while playground inspections take place every month and detailed operational checks are carried out every three months.
Parts of Quota Park are prone to flooding, presenting unique challenges and requiring strategic timing on some maintenance works.
A police spokesperson recently outlined some of the initiatives being taken there.
“Police are aware of community concerns regarding anti-social behaviour in and around Quota Park at Nambour and continue to work proactively to detect, deter and disrupt offending through high-visibility patrols, targeted policing operations and intelligence-led deployments.”
Local MP Marty Hunt said Quota Park “is in a much better position than it was 18 months ago, and we’ve made significant progress in addressing the issues.”
“We’ve delivered a significant Nambour Homelessness Response …. we’ve also delivered the Nambour Police Beat, with increased patrols in Quota Park.”
