Sunshine Coast Airport has launched an expression of interest campaign for the next stage of its Gateway Precinct.
Airport CEO Chris Mills said developers and investors should be attracted to one of the region’s fastest growing areas.
“We received strong interest in the airport hotel development, which was announced recently,” he said.
“The next phase starting now is to test the interest in the retail, industrial and commercial sites.
“These sites offer developers and investors a chance to be a part of something truly transformative for both the airport and the region.
“This is a significant opportunity to deliver a mixed-use hub set to broaden the airport’s role as an economic driver for the Sunshine Coast region.
“That means more employment opportunities for locals and the creation of services that will benefit passengers, airport workers, visitors and the wider community.”
Render flythrough videos and pictures have been released, indicating what it could look, including a retail site with a supermarket and eateries.
The precinct is positioned at the centre of surrounding high-growth suburbs and supported by the airport’s $400 million in investment during the next five years.
“We are getting on with the job of delivering our strategic vision to deliver a modern world-class airport that will unlock significant benefits for the region and open-up commercial opportunities for the airport as it grows,” Mr Mills said.
“Our $170 million terminal redevelopment is well underway with the next stages opening before the end of the year, and we are assessing submissions received for our hotel development. It’s an exciting time for the airport.”
Leading real estate and commercial advisory firm CBRE will manage the expression of interest campaign for the retail, commercial and industrial offerings.

The retail mixed-use site could suit food and beverage, childcare services, convenience stores, a car wash and petrol station, healthcare and allied healthcare services.
Commercial sites could suit offices, education, research and technology industries, service industries, corporate headquarters and professional service providers, with a building height up to 10 storeys.
Industrial sites could suit warehouse and logistics, manufacturing, food processing and distribution, research and development, service industries and aviation related uses.
