Noosa Council is calling for community feedback on proposed upgrades to a busy coastal pathway corridor.
The proposed improvements relate to Hilton Esplanade in Tewantin, where council is investigating active transport upgrades as part of broader efforts to improve walking and cycling links across the Noosa region.
Infrastructure services director Shaun Walsh said the council had secured funding from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads through the Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program for the design phase of the project.
“The $405,493 (excl. GST) grant funds concept, preliminary and detailed designs for active transport upgrades along Hilton Esplanade including road renewal and some stormwater renewal design,” Mr Walsh said.
The proposed upgrades are currently limited to planning and design work, with no construction timetable announced at this stage.
“The project is currently design-only and aims to improve safety, connectivity and comfort for people walking and cycling along the coastal pathway,” he said.

On its website, council also clarified that the consultation does not include potential changes to the unofficial boat launch area near Doonella Bridge.
“This infrastructure is managed by Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ),” it reads.
“No decisions have been made by MSQ at this stage. Council is responsible for surrounding land-side public areas, including car parking near boat ramps, and is liaising with MSQ as part of broader planning considerations.”
The community is invited to have its say via council’s Your Say Noosa platform before 24 May, with a pop-up information and feedback session planned for May 21 at 3pm, at the corner of Hilton Esplanade and Sydney Street. Registrations can be made here.
