A couple who were renting an apartment in a coveted location can breathe a sigh of relief after claiming the place for themselves at auction.
Hayden and Mikaela had leased No. 1/27 Blanck Street in Maroochydore for eight years and were determined to keep the keys to the two-bedroom home that is located just minutes from cafes, shopping, beaches and the emerging CBD.
Ray White Maroochydore sales and marketing consultant Hayden Kehoe said the pair, whose surnames were withheld for privacy reasons, were delighted to emerge victorious on auction day.
“They were relieved and excited upon securing the property,” he said.
“There were nerves leading into the final moments, but the outcome was met with genuine enthusiasm.
“Close friends of theirs own another unit within the complex, which made the result even more special.”

The result comes after their unsuccessful attempt to buy it a year ago.
“Since then, they worked towards securing finance approval and returned to the market to finally own the home they had been living in for so long,” Mr Kehoe said.
“In a market that’s often painted with uncertainty, it’s a genuine feel-good result.”
There was plenty of competition before and during the auction, with more than 50 enquiries and more than 30 inspections, and three registered bidders who placed a combined 13 bids.
Mr Kehoe said the pair did their homework to secure the residence, which they will continue to live in.
“They were very motivated to secure their first foothold in the market,” he said.
“In preparation, they attended several recent auctions conducted by our team to better understand the process and bidding strategies. We ran 10 auctions in 30 days, and they attended six of them.”

They paid $751,000 for the unit amid a highly competitive market fuelled by strong demand and limited supply. The home previously sold for $300,000 in 2010, while an identical unit in the complex sold for $532,000 about two years ago.
Mr Kehoe said the apartment included a thoughtful two-level layout.
“The home’s key features include a rare backyard space, its position as an end unit allowing for increased natural light, and an accessible entry point into Maroochydore’s rapidly growing market at an affordable price point,” he said.
The property was owned by an investor.
“While the original intention was to hold the asset longer-term, potentially through to the Olympics period, the current market conditions and pricing proved compelling (to sell),” Mr Kehoe said.
