A Coast man who recently celebrated his 103rd birthday credits “regular dancing at Caloundra RSL” as the secret to his longevity.

Maroochydore resident Jeffrey Oliver has notched up more than a century shaped by devotion to family, community and a lifelong belief in love and helping others.

Mr Oliver met his wife Joy when she was 16. He enlisted for World War II at 18 and when he returned home he asked her father for permission to marry her. Together they shared 80 years side-by-side until she passed in in 2021.

Their life together was filled with travel and ballroom dancing. The couple danced together until they were 95.

Mr Oliver retired to the Sunshine Coast in1982. He lived in Buderim for 20 years, followed by a spell in Sippy Downs before moving into aged care facility, Regis Maroochydore.

Despite the passage of time Mr Oliver said he felt no different at 103 than he did at 83.
