A budget coach operator is offering travellers an affordable alternative to self-driving to popular south-east Queensland holiday destinations.
FlixBus first launched its Queensland service in December last year connecting Brisbane to Cairns via the Sunshine Coast.
It has just added a new service from Brisbane to Rainbow Beach via key Sunshine Coast tourist hotspots.
The new service will operate seven-days-a-week with one round trip per day, connecting Brisbane, Mooloolaba, Noosa Junction, Traveston and Rainbow Beach.
Tickets start at $9.99 and are available on limited fares for departures until May 3. FlixBus includes luggage in its ticket price and offers free Wi-Fi and charging ports.
“Rainbow Beach and Noosa are two amazing Queensland coastal spots,” senior managing director Yvan Lefranc-Morin said.
“They shouldn’t be out of reach because you don’t have a car or can’t justify the cost of the trip given the current fuel crisis.
“At $9.99, this route gives people a real reason to get out of the city for the day, or the weekend, without blowing the budget.”

According to the company, FlixBus is a sustainable transport alternative as coach travel is the most climate-friendly way to travel long distance, with lower emissions per passenger than car, rail or plane.
Since its Australian launch in November 2025, the service now offers connections across Victoria, ACT, NSW and Queensland – extending as far as Cairns. It services more than 40 regional destinations, five city hubs and five airports through partnerships with local coach operators.
“Challenging the go-to modes of transportation with more affordable, sustainable and comfortable option has been a priority for us since launch,” said Mr Lefranc-Morin.
“The current fuel crisis and the response on our existing routes tells us Australians are ready for affordable intercity coach travel to return.”
