The chief executive officer of Sunshine Coast Airport is joining the board of the region’s peak tourism body.

Airport CEO Chris Mills has been appointed to the Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) board, bringing extensive leadership experience and more than 35 years in aviation, tourism, events and property development.

Under his leadership since October 2023, the airport has strengthened its position as a key gateway to the region, supporting increased connectivity and visitor growth.

Mr Mills is also leading the current $170 million terminal expansion and future property development plans.

VSC chair David Ryan said Mr Mills’ appointment further strengthened the board’s industry expertise at a time of continued growth for the region’s visitor economy.

“Chris brings valuable insight into aviation access, infrastructure planning and long-term regional growth,” Mr Ryan said.

“His experience will support our strategic focus on driving sustainable visitation and enhancing the Sunshine Coast’s position as a leading destination. We welcome Chris to the board.”
