Members of surf life saving clubs from around Queensland are ready for action at the state championships on the Sunshine Coast.

The carnival, at Maroochydore Beach, will include the youth championships (under-11s to under-15s) from February 19 to 22 and the senior championships from February 27 to March 1.

Competitors will return to the event after last year’s edition on the Gold Coast was cancelled due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Surf Life Saving Queensland surf sport manager Stuart Hogben said the competition was eagerly anticipated.

“The Queensland state championships have a long and proud history, and we’re thrilled to be back at Maroochydore,” he said.

More than 2000 of them travelled from other regions, bolstering the local economy.
