A Sunshine Coast man has been charged following police investigations into an alleged assault that occurred at a beachside locale.

Officers were called to a licensed venue on David Low Way at Coolum Beach, on December 31 at about 11.50pm, following reports a male employee in his 20s had been allegedly assaulted by a male patron.

The employee allegedly sustained non-life threatening head injuries and was transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.

Following an appeal for information, a 57-year-old Peregian Springs man was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is expected to appear before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on February 20.
