UPDATE: A fire warning for Glass House Mountains and surrounds has been cancelled.
The warning was cancelled on Friday, January 16, at 9.56am.
The Queensland Fire Department stated that “fire conditions have eased”.
“Crews are no longer required on scene at this incident.”
EARLIER: The Sunshine Coast’s first fire warning of the summer has been issued for areas in the hinterland.
The Queensland Fire Department sent out at warning, at ‘Advice’ level, to avoid smoke, on Wednesday, January 14, at 3.30pm.
“Smoke is currently affecting Glass House Mountains, Beerwah, Beerburrum and surrounding areas,” the warning stated.
“This is from a fire burning near the Bruce Highway, between Red Road and Johnston Road.”
The warning urged people in the area to: stay inside and close windows and doors, to keep respiratory medication close by and avoid driving through smoke if possible.
No properties were at risk but the department said that smoke could make it hard for some people to breathe, and it could make it hard to see when driving.

The three levels of bushfire warnings in Queensland are Emergency (red), for immediate danger, Watch and Act (orange) for a heightened level of threat, and Advice (yellow), to stay informed.
