Two men have been airlifted to hospital after the light aircraft they were in crashed.
The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 8am yesterday and located the aircraft in soggy paddocks near an airstrip in the Noosa region.
Both men were able to walk away from the wreckage and were assisted by a multi-agency response, including Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire Department.
The LifeFlight rescue crewman and QAS flight paramedic were lowered to the scene and put harnesses on both patients before winching them into the helicopter.
The men aged in their 50s were airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
A police spokesperson said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
“Police received reports of an aviation incident at Noosa North Shore yesterday morning,” they said.
“Initial information indicates about 6.20am a gyrocopter has crashed into trees on Airfield Track.
“The two occupants of the aerial vehicle were located with minor injuries and transported from the incident location.”
