Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden has been transformed into an outdoor art gallery, with colourful works lining bushland paths as part of a free summer exhibition.
The Wild HeART Student Art Prize Finalists’ Exhibition Trail features 22 large-scale artworks created by young artists aged from five to 18.
Visitors wandering the trail will encounter depictions of Australian wildlife and environments, including whale sharks, bandicoots, butterflies and native birds. The works reflect the artists’ connection to nature and their experiences exploring the Sunshine Coast and surrounding regions.
Sunshine Coast Council environment and liveability portfolio councillor Maria Suarez said the exhibition highlighted both artistic talent and a strong appreciation for the natural environment.
“Congratulations to the 22 creative and passionate finalists, and to all the children who entered – from across our region and neighbouring areas,” she said.
“Each piece showcases more than just skill, they reflect these young artists’ curiosity, love for native species and the special places they explore across the Sunshine Coast and beyond.
“Thank you to all the young artists who entered the art prize. Your creativity and talent is truly inspiring.
“I can’t wait to explore the trail and cast my People’s Choice vote.”

Members of the public can vote for their favourite artwork as part of the People’s Choice award, with the winner to be announced on January 21.
Finalists in the eight years and under category are Bailee, Mikayla, Ruth and Anouka. The 13 years-and-under finalists are Aimee, Sonam, Ronen, Gabe, Henry, Josie, John, Alyssa, Mia and Sophie. In the 18 years and under category, finalists include Keahi, Natasha, Emma, Luka, Serenity, Kaiya and Angelica.
The Wild HeART Finalists’ Exhibition Trail is open until February 6, during daylight hours at the lower Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden. Entry is free, with artworks accessible via sealed and gravel paths and open grassed areas.
The gardens are located at Palm Creek Road, Tanawha, and are open daily from 7am to 6pm between November and March.
