A Sunshine Coast man’s trip to visit a friend in Melbourne has delivered a life-changing surprise, with the pair sharing a major lotto win.

The duo held one of seven Division 1-winning entries nationally in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw, scoring almost $914,000.

“I checked the ticket on Saturday night after the draw had taken place and when I looked at the prize I thought, ‘Oh, that looks a bit strange!’ I couldn’t believe my eyes,” the Coast man said.

“My friend and I share this ticket and I’m seeing him while on holidays. He always buys the tickets and I send him half the cost.

“We’ve used these numbers for 20 years.

“It’s very exciting. I’m keen to buy a new car.”

Their winning System 8 entry was purchased at Croydon Lotto, in the city’s east.

Croydon Lotto owner Malinda Mallawa Arachchige said he and his team had sold two Division 1-winning entries in seven months.

“I’m really happy for the store to have sold another Division 1-winning entry. It’s a great feeling to give back to the community,” he said.

“Congratulations to the winner and we’re sending our warm and best wishes to them.”

The winning numbers were 17, 42, 5, 10, 33 and 45, while the supplementary numbers were 31 and 44.

Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4631 – three in Victoria, two in New South Wales and one each in Queensland and South Australia.

The Lott’s tally of Division 1 winners has now reached 405 so far in 2025.
