Getting around Maroochydore and Alexandra Headland on weekends is set to become more convenient and affordable with the introduction of a new bus loop.
The 613 route, commencing on December 13, will operate every 30 minutes from 6am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It will connect Sunshine Cove, Dalton Drive, Sunshine Plaza, and Alexandra Headland, with four additional stops along the route to provide greater access for passengers.
The service, which carries a fare of 50 cents per trip, is part of a 12-month trial. Sunshine Coast Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads will monitor patronage throughout the trial to inform future public transport planning decisions.
The introduction of the loop is expected to improve accessibility, reduce parking pressure, and provide a more convenient transport option for residents and visitors in Maroochydore and Alexandra Headland.

Division 8 Councillor Taylor Bunnag said the trial responds to strong community demand for improved public transport in the area.
“This provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to leave their cars at home and travel more easily around the region,” Cr Bunnag said.
Division 4 Councillor Joe Natoli added that the route provides convenient access to key destinations across the community.
“Whether travelling to Sunshine Plaza for shopping, attending local sporting events, visiting the beach, or commuting for work, route 613 offers a simple and cost-effective option,” Cr Natoli said.
The 613 service also provides connections to the high-frequency Route 600 and the wider Sunshine Coast bus network. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys using translink.com.au.
