Detectives have released details of a man and woman who they believe can assist investigations into an alleged armed robbery and string of assaults on Sunday.

The man, believed to be a 35-year-old from Granville, is described as Caucasian, with short, dark, buzz-cut-style hair and brown eyes. The man also has distinctive tattoos on the left side of his face and along his left arm and hand.

The woman, believed to be a 26-year-old from Maryborough, is described as Caucasian, with blonde hair with brown regrowth, dark-coloured eyes, and distinctive minor tattoos on both sides of her face, near her eyes.

Investigators are appealing to the man and woman to contact police and surrender themselves into custody.

Investigations indicate that about 5.45am on Sunday the man and woman attended a service station on the Bruce Highway at Morayfield, where they allegedly assaulted two women and unsuccessfully attempted to steal their vehicles.

The pair then allegedly approached a red Mitsubishi Outlander and assaulted its driver, before they stole the vehicle and fled the area, heading north on the Bruce Highway.

During these incidents, it’s alleged the two offenders threatened drivers with a firearm.

At 11.15am, police received information that the Outlander had crashed into trees near a property on Old Caloundra Road in Glenview, and that a man and woman were seen fleeing the area on foot.

Officers declared an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act, however following an extensive search of the area the pair were unable to be located. A homemade firearm was located near the vehicle.

Officers have seized both the Mitsubishi and the firearm for forensic testing.

Petrie Criminal Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Thomas Buckman said there was no place for violent crimes in the community.

“While we don’t want to cause alarm in the community, the action of these two persons are of particular concern. We would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police,” Detective Buckman said.

The public are asked not to approach the man or woman and to call 000 immediately.
