A waterfront penthouse has smashed the ceiling on apartment prices by attaining a record high asking price for the region.

The luxury Comino Penthouse at 2601/18 Spitfire Banks Drive has sold for its full list price of $5.6 million, marking the highest-ever apartment sale in both Pelican Waters and the broader Caloundra region, according to online data.

The 511sqm residence features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a butler’s pantry, media room, private study, 3.4-metre ceilings and an air-conditioned wine cellar and beach room.

The property also boasts a six-car lock-up garage, resort-style pool, landscaped gardens and exclusive access to the waterfront village green.

The sale more than doubles the previous local record of $2.4 million for an apartment in the same complex (Unit 1503).

The penthouse was snapped up by local downsizers from the Caloundra area who were drawn to its “lock-and-leave” lifestyle, architecturally designed interiors and north-easterly views.

“Selling at full list price speaks volumes about the penthouse’s unrivalled design, sweeping views and world-class finishes,” said Henzell Property Group director Mclean Henzell, who brokered the deal.

“We’re thrilled to see this brand-new landmark residence welcome its new owners and congratulate them on their purchase.

“This result clearly demonstrates that Pelican Waters has arrived as a destination for top-tier luxury.”

Realm Projects managing director Shane Foley has previously told SCN the penthouse was the crown jewel in the Comino at The Cove development.

“There’s nothing else quite like it,” Mr Foley said.

The Comino at The Cove development features a resort-style pool.

“It’s a dream home for those who want the ultimate in comfort, space and coastal beauty.”

The building, which was designed by Sunshine Coast-based award-winning OGE Architects, has access to the private marina for boating enthusiasts and is close to the nearby Greg Norman-designed golf course.

It is close to the major health precinct of Kawana, including Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
