Sunshine Coast Council’s proposed new planning scheme is now open for public feedback.
The scheme outlines suggested changes to zoning, building heights, design, green space and more.
It’s available to explore through an interactive web platform that allows residents to search their own property.
Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the proposal represented a turning point for the region.
“Council has listened to our community and worked hard to reflect what matters most: protecting our natural environment, maintaining our unique character and addressing public transport, traffic and parking, improving development outcomes and housing affordability,” she said.
“This is your opportunity to see what’s proposed for your neighbourhood and the wider region, and to have your say.”

The scheme sets out design standards and sets aside land for homes, green spaces, community facilities and business.
It features targeted zone and building height changes to help meet housing needs and provide a greater mix of housing options near existing and planned centres, jobs, services and transport.
Eighteen new local plan areas have been proposed for communities across the region.
A council media release said the scheme also focuses on climate resilience, managing the impacts of coastal hazards and recognising the role of floodplains in mitigating flood hazards.
It includes more industrial land to boost local jobs and new overlay mapping and standards for development, to better protect wildlife.
It also has new development codes to improve design outcomes and integrate Sunshine Coast Design principles, especially for multi-unit residential developments.
Cr Natoli encouraged locals to explore the proposed scheme and share their views.
“Whether you support the plan or have concerns, we want to hear from you,” she said.
“This is about shaping the Sunshine Coast we all want: now and into the future.”
Community consultation is open until Friday, September 19.
