A show helmed by a choreographer who has worked with stars such as Kylie Minogue is set to open on the Sunshine Coast.

Lassu is an adults-only cabaret that blends modern spectacle with traditional artistry.

It will be performed in a 30m bespoke big top tent known as a ‘chapiteau’ that has been set up opposite Bunnings on Dalton Drive in Maroochydore.

The creative director of Lassu is Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Mitchell Woodcock, who has created performances for more than 50 acts including Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora and Meghan Trainor.

He has also worked on the TV shows The Voice, Australian Idol and Paper Dolls, and major sports events such as the ICC T20 World Cup opening ceremony and the FIFA World Cup closing ceremony.

The show is presented by Ashton Legacy Productions, part of the renowned circus and entertainment company that was founded more than 170 years ago.

The show is described as intimate and exhilarating.

Seventh-generation circus performer and producer Merrik Ashton, who grew up surrounded by the unique lifestyle of circus performers, said the new show would wow Coast audiences.

“Bringing Lassu to the Sunshine Coast is incredibly exciting,” he said.

“This show is something truly special – an electrifying, high-energy production that pushes the boundaries of live entertainment. I can’t wait for audiences to experience it.”

The website for the show describes Lassu as “a cosmic cabaret saloon perched on the galaxy’s edge, where space cowboys, alien drifters and the legendary Rodeo Sisters dazzle with out-of-this-world acts”.

“Join Rodeo Clown Rusty as he journeys through the golden days of Lassu, determined to revive the magic that once filled the saloon. Immerse yourself in a story where past and future collide in a spectacular, risque circus experience,” it says.

Shows run from May 16 to June 14. Tickets are available here.
