A man his died and a woman is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the Bruce Highway this morning.

Police were called about 11.20am to the northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway between Roys Road and the Caloundra interchange.

A Mazda ute towing a caravan had reportedly veered across multiple lanes and collided with a Toyota ute before going down an embankment.

The driver of the Mazda, a man in his 80s, died at the scene.

The passenger, a woman in her 60s, was transported to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the Toyota was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident is urged to contact police.
