A long-running Sunshine Coast club is the toast of the national surfing scene after winning a prestigious event.
North Shore Boardriders, based at Alexandra Headland, claimed victory at the Australian Boardriders Battle at Burleigh.
The 55-year-old club also won the event in 2020.
Club president Troy Currell hailed the result.
“It’s a bit surreal,” he said.
“It was an incredible performance. The team had great camaraderie.”

Mr Currell said the team members battled their way through the rounds before finding their best form when it mattered most.
“We scraped through the heats and we thought we’ve got to have a good heat soon because we knew our surfers could to it, and it just happened to be in the final,” he said.
The team included Alister Reginato, who provided the winning moment in the final, Sophie McCulloch, Landen Smales, Blake Wilson and Luke Brumby.
“Alister won it for us at the end,” Mr Currell said.
“He went out as a power surfer and got the wave (that was needed).
“He saved us numerous times, but everyone did, at different times.
“It really was a team effort.”
Mr Currell said the triumph would provide the growing club with a boost.
“Our numbers have picked up this year and I think they will really pick up now with this win and with our junior programs,” he said.
“I can see us growing from strength to strength.”
Alister was elated with the result.
“It’s wild. The first time (in 2020) was unbelievable but it’s a little more special doing it here at Burleigh,” he said.
“The team finally put a great heat together and everyone did amazing.”
The club was formed in 1969, by a group of Redcliffe surfers who surfed on the Sunshine Coast on weekends.
The club now has more than 100 members who take part in club events.
