Lottery officials are urging Sunshine Coast locals to check their tickets after a mystery player scored a life-changing $1.6 million.

The winning entry was purchased at a newsagency by the highway at Gympie.

The winner held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4563, which was drawn on Saturday, April 12.

If the winner had been part of The Lott Members Club and registered their ticket to a player card or online account, they would have already been alerted to their good fortune.

Instead, officials from The Lott are waiting for the ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward.

The winning entry was purchased at Nextra Gympie at Gympie Central, next to the Bruce Highway.

Nextra Gympie owner Kelly Goatham said her team was shocked and excited when they found out they had sold a division one winning entry.

“There were certainly a few expletives when we found out we sold a division one winning entry,” she said.

“My co-owner Justene thought there was a snake in the house by the way I had yelled out to her in the morning.

“The proof is in the pudding that we can, in fact, sell a division one winning entry.

“This is the first time Justene and I have sold a division one winning entry since we took over.

“We came in early to get our store decorated with balloons and posters and we’ve been sharing the exciting news with all of our customers.

“Ultimately, we’d love for it to be one of our regulars who doesn’t register their tickets to
The Lott Members Club but I guess we will have to wait to find out.

“Our team is excited to see what unfolds. We expect to be fairly busy over the coming
days and weeks.

We hope that our mystery winner checks their ticket and comes forward
soon.”

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said the mystery millionaire had most likely started their week with no idea they’d won.

“Imagine going to bed not knowing you’ve won $1.6 million in Saturday Gold Lotto. That’s the reality for one mystery winner after scoring division one in the recent draw,” she said.

“We’re sure that when they check their ticket and discover their news, they’ll be jumping for joy.

“We’re encouraging everyone to check their entries because they might be the mystery millionaire we’re searching for.

“If you think you’re holding this very valuable ticket, please call The Lott on 131 868 to start the process of claiming your prize.

“This is a great reminder to all lottery players to register your ticket to The Lott Members Club because if you scored a life-changing prize, we could call immediately after the draw with the exhilarating news.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4563 on 12 April 2025 were 45, 3, 22, 17, 13 and 6, while the supplementary numbers were 29 and 31.

It comes after The Lott launched a search for a mystery winner of $100,000 at Birtinya.

The winning Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot ticket was purchased from Birtinya News & Gifts.
