The University of the Sunshine Coast has been ranked Queensland’s best public university for the overall quality of its educational experience for undergraduate students, for the third year in a row.

Nationally, it is equal second for public universities in the latest Student Experience Survey, conducted by the Australian Department of Education across 142 higher education institutions.

The results of the national report were not surprising to second-year Secondary Education and Outdoor Recreational and Environmental Studies student Matt Lombardo.

“From my first day on campus as a young school leaver, UniSC has helped me with every possible endeavour – from study support to social sport – giving me an incredible uni experience, and making my life easier,” he said.

The survey measures student satisfaction across teaching quality and engagement, student support and services, skills development, learning resources and peer engagement.

UniSC was the top ranked public university in Queensland for student support and services.

UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Helen Bartlett, said the results reflected the university’s commitment to ensuring its students continued to be among the most satisfied and engaged learners in the nation, and had the support they needed to succeed.

“This survey was an opportunity for students across our campuses, from Fraser Coast to Moreton Bay, to have their say on their learning experiences, including their sense of belonging, and it is wonderful to have such positive feedback,” she said.

UniSC’s postgraduate students also ranked their experience highly.

UniSC was second among Queensland’s public universities and seventh nationally for the overall quality of postgraduate students’ entire education experience.

“Our focus is on genuinely changing lives,” Professor Bartlett said.

“These survey results will help school leavers and those looking for a career or life change to make informed choices about their higher education options.

“They will also assist UniSC identify ways to continuously improve teaching and learning outcomes, and wellbeing and support services for our students.”

The Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching survey program, including the Student Experience Survey, is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.

The QILT website brings together survey data from all Australian universities about students’ experiences and graduate job outcomes.
