The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit has charged a woman following a serious traffic crash involving a car and a pedestrian at Maroochydore on August 21.

It will be alleged around 8am the woman was the driver of Kia 4 which pulled out of a driveway onto Main Road and collided with a girl who was riding an e-scooter on the footpath.

The 12-year-old Alexandra Headland girl was transported to hospital in a critical condition, however is now recovering at home.

On Sunday, the 21-year-old Maroochydore woman, was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

She is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 22.
