A woman has been winched to safety after an incident on the Sunshine Coast today.

The woman, in her early 40s, called emergency services after a medical incident while descending Mount Tibrogargan in the Glass House Mountains National Park.

The Queensland Fire Department was training on the mountain at the same time and offered initial assistance to the patient while waiting for the LifeFlight Sunshine Coast helicopter to arrive.

A Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic treated the patient on scene after being winched down by the LifeFlight crew.

Both the patient and paramedic were winched back to the helicopter and she was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
