A new 1km stretch of pathway by the beach is open to the public.
Walkers, riders and runners will be able to enjoy a wider and more accessible path, with ocean views and shaded areas, at Warana.
The section forms part of the 73km Coastal Pathway, from Bells Creek in the south to Coolum in the north.
Sunshine Coast Council completed the path between Beach Access 233 (Coonang Cresent) to BA 229, connecting to the existing network at Koorin Drive.
Revegetation of the verges will continue in the coming weeks.
Councillor Joe Natoli said council’s vision was for the Coastal Pathway to be a world-class scenic route, and that it was four years ahead of schedule.
“These safe, connected pathways are great for residents to have some fun with family and friends, and it’s a really wonderful way of seeing the beauty of the coastline while staying active,” he said.
“The works (at Warana) include a kilometre-long, 3m-wide, concrete coastal pathway with accessibility access, two new beach showers, three new seats, two bike racks and more.
“The pathway provides people with the opportunity to explore the coast’s natural beauty.

“Stage four was the last section in this area to be completed, meaning we have a continued 2km route from Minkara Street (BA 236) to Pike Park (BA 229).
“A scenic and easy walk or ride that would allow you to check out the new link would be from Kawana Surf Club to Bokarina and back. It would be a 5km return trip.”
The council partnered with the state government, through the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program, to deliver the section.
