Unfortunately, we’ve had another week of poor weather conditions which has resulted in a quiet week for local fishos.

Smithy from Smithy’s Fishing Charters and Glen from Deep End Fishing Charters both confirmed they haven’t been offshore due to the conditions, and it doesn’t look like the upcoming week will be any better.

Windy conditions have also kept the beach fishos at bay.

Freshwater fishing spots are still being affected by flooding, while our estuaries are still dirty from recent rains and big tides.

Overall, its been a pretty frustrating period for local fishos, with the bad weather looking to continue.

We’ve had a reports of flathead active on the flats despite the conditions, and giant herring and grunter in the Maroochy River.

Mangrove jacks don’t seem to mind the dirty water, with a few good catches reported. Some whiting is still being caught at the mouth, and crab catches have been good.

The Spanish mackerel closure ends on March 21, and in preparation we’ve taken delivery of Garfish straight from the trawler in Northern NSW. We’ve packed it fresh into 500g packs and its ready to go. It won’t last, so make sure you stock up next time you’re in store. We’ve also got plenty of premium squid ready to go.

Fingers crossed the weather improves at some stage over the next few weeks and we actually get to wet a line.

Don’t forgot we’ve moved locations, and you’ll now find us at 3/99 Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore.
