A Noosa bridal gown designer has taken on New York as she showcases her collection to the international market.

Known for her romantic yet edgy fashion sense and attention to detail, Erin Oberem is the creative drive behind her label.

Founded in 2002, Erin Clare Bridal specialises in locally custom-made gowns, plus veils and accessories.

She was a featured designer at the One Fine Day Bridal Market from October 11 to 13, an event held as part of New York Bridal Fashion Week.

The market connects fashion-forward bridal designers with buyers from all over the world.

Ms Oberem said attending the event marked an exciting chapter in the brand’s journey.

“It’s so exciting to be in New York with our gowns and being surrounded by other creatives,” she said.

“(I love) connecting with like-minded boutique owners and creating relationships with them to bring our Australian-made bridal gowns to future brides around the globe.

“We already have a longstanding relationship with a gorgeous boutique in LA and it is our intention to be able to supply more boutiques beyond the Australian market.”

Erin Clare Bridal specialises in custom-made gowns, plus an exclusive collection.

Ms Oberem’s passion for creating bridal gowns was inspired by her own friends choosing a dress for their wedding day.

“From a very young age it was apparent that I loved creating with beautiful fabrics,” she said.

“When studying fashion, a number of my friends were getting married and wanted something different to what was available at the time.

“I had the privilege and honour of being able to design and make their gowns for them.

Erin Oberem.

“The immense joy of being a part of their beautiful day and being able to create gowns totally unique to their aesthetic and personal style ignited my passion to create gowns for other women.”

Ms Oberem said when choosing a fabric for a new dress she would consider drape, texture and detail before allowing a design to take shape.

“The design evolves spontaneously – (it’s) a combination of thoughts, feelings and experience.

“Developing a concept drawing to a pattern which evolves into a beautiful gown is incredibly rewarding. It is like bringing a dream into reality.”

Ms Oberem said that while trends did play a part in the bridal industry, most brides would find designers that reflect their personal style.

The Erin Clare Bridal showroom is located at 1/5 Commerce Court, Noosaville, with all the gowns handmade by Ms Oberem’s local team.
