Multicultural Moon Festival 

The Multicultural Moon Festival is a family-friendly event where residents can promote and share traditional culture and participate in artistic competitions and performances. This year’s festival begins with a special children’s movie under the stars on Mooloolaba Beach. Official festivities has a plethora of activities planned for everyone, including eclectic markets and activity stalls. Visitors will be treated to enthralling multicultural entertainment, including a Russian dance performance, fire dance show and Chinese classical dance, followed by a spectacular moon ceremony.

When: Friday, September 29, at 6pm, and Saturday, September 30, at 2pm.

Koala Day

Calling all koala lovers: September is Save the Koala Month and Fairhill, in partnership with fauna ecologist Kellie Newport and Koala Crusaders Queensland, is hosting a community conservation event. Understand the threats to koalas and learn what you can do to help today. You will even learn how to help grow your own koala habitat. There’ll be talks from industry experts, face painting, DJ Roly, tapas and a bar.

The show takes the audience through a poetical journey, bringing to life gothic poems using puppets, costumes, movement and music. Poetry from Edgar Allan Poe, Heinrich Hoff man, Hilaire Belloc, Emily Dickinson and Lewis Carroll feature. Prepare to be surprised, amused and little frightened.

The BIG Beach Clean Up 

Join local group Visionary Ocean Warriors for this free community event with a difference. The morning involves a beach clean-up, eco market stalls, free kids’ activities and a trash swap, where litter collected becomes currency to purchase pre-loved clothes, books and bric-a-brac donated by the local community. For every bag of litter collected, participants will receive a free Boomerang Bag and a stamp to use in the pop-up op shop. Younger participants can take part in a free guided art activity, as well as free face painting, and take part in a no-sew bag workshop.

Spamalot

These school holidays Little Seed Theatre Company invites you into a world of knights on quests, magical ladies of the lake and an all singing, all dancing cast of local talent. It’s Little Seed Theatre Company’s seventh annual full length musical. With a cast of teenagers from seven local high schools, this year’s Spamalot sees the return of Matilda Malone, right, who plays The Lady of The Lake, a magical sprite who sends King Arthur on a quest to find the Holy Grail. Audiences can expect to shed tears of laughter as Spamalot is a riot with many laugh out loud moments.
