A Sunshine Coast town is set to be showcased on Australia’s most popular breakfast television show, after being recognised with a top state award.

Caloundra will be visited by Channel 7’s Sunrise on July 4 and the town’s attributes will be featured on the program, one month it was recognised as Queensland’s Top Tourism Town.

Several of Caloundra’s personalities and businesses will be on the three-hour show, including 4 Ingredients founder Kim McCosker, Mr Jay and Miss Donna Balloons, Your Mates Brewing Co and artist Steven Bordonaro.

Ms McCosker said she would team up with Your Mates Brewing Co to showcase the region’s delicious food and drink industry.

“We are going to bring the flavour element and showcase the unparalleled produce available in our region, including local prawns and pineapples,” she said.

Caloundra was recently adjudged the state’s top tourism town.

She asked the community to join the live audience.

Sunrise’s viewership is strong, loving and loyal, in a short time you can reach a lot of people and that’s the power of morning TV,” she said.

“So, this opportunity is wonderful for Caloundra because it is going to shine a light on the reason why we know and love Caloundra.”

Audience members will have the opportunity to meet TV personality Sam Mac and appear on the national breakfast show.

The Caloundra Lions Club and Caloundra Chamber of Commerce collaborated to organise a barbecue for the morning, with a free sausage for anyone that brings a welcome sign.

Caloundra Chamber CEO Brady Sullivan said the national coverage was another exciting moment for Caloundra, which recently launched a new town brand.

“The visit from Sunrise is an amazing opportunity for eyes across the country to see the magic that is Caloundra,” he said.

“Like being crowned Queensland’s Top Tourism Town, the coverage has the potential to enhance the Sunshine Coast tourism industry and boost our economy by attracting investment and visitors to our region.”

The Queensland Air Museum is a popular destination.

Mr Sullivan encouraged Sunshine Coast residents to join the live audience near the Kings Beach Pool.

“To make the most of this opportunity we need our community come out in force to showcase and celebrate where they live,” he said.

The Sunrise crosses will start at 5.30am with the last cross beginning at 8.35am. For more information head to Visit Caloundra Sunshine Coast.
