The swinging classic musical Grease is hitting the Sunshine Coast this September and directors have kicked off the search for their Danny and Sandy.
From the team that brought audiences the sell-out production of Little Shop of Horrors in 2022, de Jager Productions and Cope Creations are excited to bring Rydell High to life.
With a show of fun characters to cast, producer Marina de Jager said she was excited to get auditions underway and find the perfect Pink Ladies and T-Birds.
“There’s so many great characters in the show, from Danny to Patty the cheerleader. We can’t wait to see what the Sunshine Coast’s talent holds,” she said.
Partnering for the second time with Riley Cope, who will also direct the show, Ms de Jager is passionate about bringing quality theatre opportunities to the Sunshine Coast, by locals for locals.
“I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and so I love seeing locals creating incredible works of theatre,” she said.
“There’s so much talent.
“We loved bringing the cult classic Little Shop of Horrors to life last year and Grease is no different. We all grew up watching Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta in the film.”

Grease auditions are being held in April, with the production to be staged at The Events Centre, Caloundra, in September.
“We can’t wait to meet our ensemble and there’s not just on-stage roles up for grabs – we’re on the lookout for dressers, builders and much more,” she said.
Named after the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as greasers, the musical is set in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School (based on Taft High School in Chicago, Illinois, and named after rock singer Bobby Rydell) and follows 10 working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love. The music, lyrics and book were created by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
Performers must be 18-plus when applying and have access to transport. The producers strongly encourage BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) performers and people of diverse backgrounds to apply.
