Residents in northern areas of the Sunshine Coast will have comprehensive cancer care at their doorstep once construction is completed on a new $40 million facility.

Construction will start shortly, with patient treatment expected to be available from November next year.

Cancer Care Associates – an Australian-owned, cancer care operator providing services across New South Wales – will establish a new cancer care facility in Noosaville.

The multi-storey, state-of-the art development will encompass specialist consulting suites, radiation oncology, haematology, medical oncology, a pharmacy, radiology and pathology, as well as access to cancer research and clinical trials.

Cancer Care Associates says it prides itself on having a highly-skilled, multi-disciplinary team committed to providing patients with the highest level of personalised care. It reports that its clinics provide access to world-class facilities and best-practice treatment protocols, close to home, ensuring patients receive the best possible support with a human, compassionate touch.

Chair and chief executive officer Tony Noun said the facility comes at a time when the Noosa region was experiencing population growth and an increasingly ageing demographic.

“This new, comprehensive cancer care centre aims to provide a much-needed service to the community of Noosa, by eliminating the need to travel to Maroochydore or elsewhere for their cancer treatment,” Dr Noun said.

“Importantly, we believe in delivering world-class, evidence-based medicine in a caring, compassionate and comfortable environment.

“Our radiotherapy treatment service will provide access to bulk billing, ensuring patients can utilise this service without incurring out-of-pocket costs for their potentially life-saving treatment.”

Cancer Care Associates’ Karen Dawe and Damien Williams.

Cancer Care Associates chief operating officer Damien Williams said the development had been in the pipeline for some time.

“We are excited to be able to provide the residents of Noosa and surrounding areas access to the proposed comprehensive cancer care service,” he said.

“This development will be a great investment in the local community.

“We are also very pleased to announce that Ms Karen Dawe will be managing our Queensland operations.

“Karen brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked in cancer care and medical practices over the past 15 years.

“Her strong background will ensure Cancer Care Noosa will be a success for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
