An important fundraiser supporting women facing a breast cancer diagnosis is gearing up for another year of pink, fun and important conversations.

One lucky raffle winner will even drive away with a new electric vehicle to raise money in the hopes of finding a cure for the disease which was expected to kill 3200 Australians in 2022.

High Tea by the Sea is an annual event, now in its seventh year, where 4 Ingredients joins forces with Coastline MINI Garage and the community to raise awareness and money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

The major raffle prize this year is a new Mini Electric valued at $61,353, with 100 per cent of ticket proceeds going to the NBCF.

NBCF statistics reveal more than 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer in in 2022, including around 200 men.

This Mini Electric is the major raffle prize.

4 Ingredients founder Kim McCosker began fundraising in 2014 after realising just how many women and their families are touched by the disease.

“Breast cancer does not discriminate; it can strike anyone at any time, and we all know plenty that have been directly and indirectly affected,” she says.

“That was enough for us to start fundraising which we did writing 4 Ingredients Cook 4 a Cure, which was published September 2014.”

NBCF has funded vital life-saving research into breast cancer since 1994.

Data reveals more than 50,000 people with breast cancer have survived to the five-year milestone thanks largely to research, which has driven improvements in prevention, early detection, treatment and care.

Liz Illidge, Melinda Dines, Cleo Anderiesz and Kim McCosker.

“We all know someone touched by cancer, and although the primary aim of the NBCF is to find a cure for breast cancer so much of its research has vicariously helped other cancers,” Ms McCosker says.

“The only way we will find a cure for any cancer is through research.”

The raffle winner will be drawn during the High Tea by the Sea race day at Sunshine Coast Turf Club on September 18.

The raffle is open to the entire community and the winner does not need to be present at the event.

Purchase raffle tickets here, or tickets to the high tea event are available from the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.
